Opera is stepping up its game by adding Bluesky, Slack, and Discord directly into its browser. That means no more juggling between tabs or getting lost in a sea of open windows—now, your favorite communication tools are just a click away in Opera’s sidebar.

A More Connected Browsing Experience
Opera has long allowed users to integrate messaging platforms like WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, Instagram, TikTok, and even AI assistants like ChatGPT and its own Aria. Now, with the addition of Bluesky, Slack, and Discord, Opera is catering to users who rely on these platforms for work, socializing, and community engagement.

This move isn’t just about convenience—it’s also a strategic effort to declutter your browsing experience. Instead of hopping between multiple tabs, everything you need can now live in one streamlined space.

Listening to Users, One Feature at a Time
According to Opera’s product director, Joanna Czajka, the decision to add these integrations came directly from user feedback. “Whether you’re working with your team on Slack, chatting with your friends on Discord, or keeping in touch with your community via Bluesky, we want you to be able to do that directly from Opera,” she explained.

Bluesky’s inclusion is particularly interesting, given that the platform is still relatively new. Competing with giants like X (formerly Twitter) and Meta’s Threads, Bluesky has already amassed over 32 million users, making it a rising star in the social media world.

Opera One: A Browser Built for the Future
Opera One, the latest evolution of the browser, was designed with the generative AI era in mind. Beyond AI integration, it also offers a fresh approach to organizing browser tabs with its Tab Islands feature. This tool groups related tabs together—think research sessions, work documents, or media streams—keeping everything neat and easy to navigate. Users can even customize tabs with emojis, adding a personal touch to their browsing experience.

On top of that, Opera One includes modular video and music players that can be moved anywhere on the screen, making multitasking even more seamless.

The Trend of Integrated Browsing
Opera isn’t the first to experiment with integrating popular services directly into the browser. The Arc browser by The Browser Company offers similar features, and past efforts like the social web browser Flock (which shut down in 2011) attempted to blend social media into the browsing experience. However, Opera’s long-standing presence in the industry and continuous innovation give it an edge in making these features both functional and widely adopted.

With Bluesky, Slack, and Discord now part of the Opera ecosystem, the browser is positioning itself as the ultimate tool for both work and play. Whether you’re chatting, collaborating, or just staying connected, Opera is making sure you can do it all—without the tab overload.
