Buy Me A Coffee

We’ve got ourselves a spicy case of presidential button-mashing that nuked half the internet (ok, health.gov edition) and now a judge is out here laying the legal smackdown like it’s Phoenix Wright: Executive Order Edition.

So here’s what went down: On Day Freakin’ ONE in office, Trump dropped a deluge of executive orders like a kid mashing “A” on a Game Boy. One of them demanded that all government health sites stop talking about “gender ideology” (translation: anything even remotely acknowledging trans, non-binary, or gender-diverse humans). Cool cool cool… except no, not cool. 🫠

Within 48 hours — 48 hours!!! — health agencies like the CDC, NIH, and FDA panic-deleted hundreds, possibly THOUSANDS of web pages. Gone. Vamoose. Ghosted harder than your Hinge date after you mentioned crypto. These weren’t just BuzzFeed quizzes either — they were actual, medically important resources. Think:

  • Youth mental health
  • Vaping info
  • HIV testing sites
  • STI prevention
  • Birth control help
  • Menopause guides
  • Oh, and that time someone had to deal with a CHLAMYDIA OUTBREAK in a high school and couldn’t get help because the CDC’s info had been turned to digital dust.

Yeah. THAT kind of info. 🙃

Enter: Judge John D. Bates, aka the Real MVP of This Saga™. He basically said, “Look, the government can say what it wants about gender stuff — free speech and all that jazz — but if you’re gonna go full Thanos on public health websites, you still have to follow the law.”

Which law? The Administrative Procedure Act, baby. That sweet, boring-sounding piece of paper that says, “Yo, maybe don’t nuke half the internet without, like, a process?”

Doctors in underserved schools literally testified that their ability to treat patients got nerfed harder than Gen Z slang in a corporate email. And the court was like: Y’all need to bring those sites back. Stat.

BUT WAIT… there’s a twist 👀
Just because the court said “restore it,” doesn’t mean the fed is gonna actually do it. Why? Because this administration has a track record of treating court orders like Terms & Conditions: scroll fast, click “agree,” do whatever they want anyway.

So, TL;DR:
Trump admin deleted crucial health info to erase “gender ideology,” got caught violating laws, and now they’ve been legally bonked by a judge wielding the Gavel of Justice +5.

Will the sites come back?
Will doctors get their tools back?
Will someone PLEASE explain to Trump that “gender ideology” isn’t Voldemort?

Stay tuned.
