Buy Me A Coffee

If you’ve ever tried to buy an audiobook on Spotify using your iPhone and felt like you were jumping through hoops — good news! That’s officially changing.

As of this week, Spotify has rolled out an update to its iPhone app in the U.S. that finally lets you buy audiobooks directly within the app. No more switching to a web browser just to make a purchase. No more confusing workarounds. Just a few taps, and you’re listening.

#📚 What’s New?
Before this update, if you were browsing audiobooks in the Spotify app, you couldn’t actually buy them there. You’d have to head over to Spotify’s website, make the purchase, then come back to the app to listen. Pretty annoying, right?

Now, Spotify has updated the app so that iPhone users in the U.S. can:

  • See audiobook prices right in the app
  • Buy audiobooks instantly
  • Purchase additional listening time (“top-ups”) without leaving the app

Spotify gives you 15 hours of audiobook listening time each month. If you run out, you can now top up right from your phone — no website detours needed. Each 10-hour top-up costs **\$13**, and you can stack up as many as you like.

🔍 Why the Change Now?
Apple used to have strict rules that blocked developers like Spotify from offering purchases directly inside their apps — unless they used Apple’s own payment system (which takes a big cut of the money).

But that changed recently, thanks to a U.S. court ruling. Apple now has to allow companies to let users know about other ways to pay — including through external links or systems that don’t involve Apple’s fees.

Spotify is wasting no time jumping on that opportunity.

🗣️ What Spotify Says
“This change lowers the barriers for more users to embrace their first — or tenth — audiobook,” Spotify said in its announcement. And they’re right: this makes the process **way smoother** for listeners and helps authors and publishers get their books into more ears.

📲 What This Means for You
If you’ve been curious about audiobooks on Spotify but got frustrated by the clunky buying process, this is your moment. You can now:

  • Browse titles and prices like you would on any bookstore app
  • Buy audiobooks with a couple of taps
  • Keep listening by easily adding more hours when you need them

TL;DR:
Spotify just made it finally easy to buy and listen to audiobooks on iPhones. If you’re in the U.S., you can now purchase titles and add listening time directly in the app. No more annoying web redirects. Just tap, buy, and enjoy.
