Buy Me A Coffee

Cloudflare just put you on a leash… and they’re charging you rent.

That’s right, the internet’s favorite invisible bouncer (aka Cloudflare), which literally powers 20% of the internet (flex 💅), has pulled a giga-brain move and dropped a whole new paywall for bots. It’s called “Pay Per Crawl” and no, it’s not a new OnlyFans tier for spiders. 🕷️

This new system is basically Cloudflare looking at AI companies and saying:
“You wanna scrape my users’ websites? Cool. Now gimme that cash, daddy.” 💳🧾

So What’s the Tea?
For the past year, Cloudflare’s been lowkey building digital tripwires to stop bot armies from vacuuming up content like a Dyson on Adderall. Now, they’ve taken it a step further with Pay Per Crawl™️, which makes AI companies pay every single time they sniff around your website for data.

Imagine a bot trying to casually browse your blog like:
“Hmm, just gonna yoink this paragraph—”
💥 BAM! Toll booth. Insert coin. Get wrecked, Skynet.

Is This the Future or Just a Delusional Flex?
The hosts of Wp-dd.com’s soon-to-come Life in Tech podcast—aka the tech world’s gossip girlies—are trying to figure out if this move is big-brain billionaire energy or just Cloudflare throwing spaghetti at the monetization wall to see what sticks.

They also spill tea on:

  • ICEBlock going viral after a prosecutor had a meltdown over it. The app lets people report ICE sightings anonymously, and it is now one of the top free iPhone apps, because Gen Z said ✨snitches get downloads✨.
  • Figma’s S-1 filing being hotter than an overclocked GPU, with 48% growth and IPO vibes so strong, even Canva is sweating.
  • Grammarly buying Superhuman, because apparently the future of productivity is robots writing emails while pretending to be your mom.
  • Tesla’s ex, JB Straubel, spinning up a new venture that’s so spicy, it might actually out-Tesla Tesla in the energy game. Elon, baby, your move.

Final Thought:
Cloudflare’s new bot tax might actually change the internet forever… or it might just make some AIs cry in HTML. Either way, Pay Per Crawl is here, and it’s not taking exposure as payment. 💅
