The WP Community Collective (WPCC), a key player in the WordPress ecosystem, has taken an exciting step forward by formally incorporating as a California membership nonprofit. The organization is now positioned as a mutual benefit nonprofit, amplifying the voices of the WordPress community in a way that’s both inclusive and impactful.

Sé Reed, President and CEO of WPCC, emphasized the organization’s mission:
“A lot is said about (and to) the #WordPress community. But for the most part, the community has been spoken for and not had a voice of its own. That’s why we founded @thewpcc.”

A Clear Path with 501(c)(6) Status
WPCC is on track to achieve its 501(c)(6) designation, which categorizes it as an association with shared business interests. This federal classification will enhance WPCC’s ability to undertake diverse projects and secure funding, ensuring a sustainable future for its initiatives.

But that’s not all—WPCC is also laying the groundwork for a charitable nonprofit subsidiary. This offshoot will focus on meaningful projects like the Accessibility Fellowship and efforts to foster diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) within the WordPress community.

Membership Opportunities
WPCC is now inviting individuals to join its mission. Memberships start at just $5, with the expectation that members will adhere to a clear Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest policy. For organizations and businesses, membership tiers are set to debut in early 2025, including scholarship options to ensure accessibility for all. Members also gain access to a dedicated Slack workspace, creating a hub for collaboration and connection.

Overcoming Challenges with Resilience
Earlier this year, WPCC faced a significant hurdle when its fiscal host, the Open Collective Foundation (OCF), unexpectedly dissolved. This prompted WPCC to shift its funds to a temporary host, though those resources are currently unavailable for its new nonprofit structure. Despite this challenge, WPCC remains laser-focused on its mission. The team is actively working on new initiatives and building partnerships to broaden opportunities for contributors worldwide.

A Transparent Future
WPCC is committed to maintaining transparency, particularly regarding its finances. Supporters are encouraged to contribute and help drive its initiatives forward. Interested in making a difference? You can contribute directly to support the organization’s mission [here](#).

As WPCC embarks on this exciting new chapter, it remains steadfast in its goal to empower the WordPress community, foster inclusivity, and champion important causes.
